Community Standards

At Roblox, our mission is to connect a billion people with optimism and civility. We’re working hard to build a community that feels safe and welcoming for everyone—a place where you can be yourself, make positive connections, and let your creativity run wild. Our Community Standards are here to make sure everyone feels at home and protected while they explore. For our Youth Guide to Community Standards, see here.

Our community is always growing and changing so we’re constantly learning, and that means our Standards might change too. We will always ask everyone to treat each other with kindness and respect—just like you would in person. If we find users or content that are breaking these rules, we’ll take action against that content and the accounts of those who created it. In cases where someone’s safety is at risk offline, we’ll work closely with the relevant authorities to keep everyone safe.

We know we’re not perfect, and even with all our best efforts, sometimes things slip through the cracks. If you ever see something that you think might violate these rules or otherwise makes you feel unsafe, please use our 'Report Abuse' tool to let us know. We’re in this together, and your voice helps us keep this a space we can all be proud of. If you want to dive into the more formal legal side of things, our Terms of Use are always there for you to read.

Safety

Safety is core to everything we do. We do not allow creating content related to, engaging with, or expressing support for exploitation, discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any other behavior or content that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome. Specifically, we prohibit —

We take our users’ well-being seriously and we’re here to help, including by providing supportive resources for those struggling with mental health. We also reserve the right to communicate with relevant authorities regarding credible threats of self-harm. We do not allow content or behavior that depicts, glorifies, or promotes suicide, self-injury, eating disorders, or offline activities that may create a serious risk of physical harm including:

  • Content that encourages depression, hopelessness or despair by portraying such feelings as aspirational or desirable
  • Discouraging others from seeking the help they need to overcome feelings of depression and hopelessness, or self-harm
  • Dangerous physical challenges or stunts performed offline

Roblox considers the following content as “Advertising” that is subject to requirements in the Advertising Standards:

  • Content that is published in exchange for any form of compensation to promote a brand, product, service, event, or persona; or
  • Content that includes calls to action or promotes demand, attributes, information, or availability for specific off-platform products, services, events, or personas.

All Advertising content, including Advertising Integrations, on Roblox must adhere to Roblox’s Advertising Standards. Creator guidance for complying with the Advertising Standards can be found here.

Advertising Integrations

Starting May 4, 2026, Developers wanting to integrate advertisements other than Roblox-operated ad units must comply with the new Independent Advertising policy, renamed to Advertising Integrations Policy. Roblox requires registration of all Advertising Integration campaign assets (“Ad Integration”) prior to audience exposure and requires the use of Roblox advertising tools that we offer.

Additionally:

  • Games may not make programmatic calls to third-party advertising and measurement services.
  • Developers may not share personally identifiable user engagement information with advertisers and must comply with the Creator Analytics Terms of Use and Roblox Terms of Use in their treatment of all user information.
  • Developers are prohibited from creating personalized activity profiles of users or using activity data from Roblox or third-parties to personalize advertising campaigns.
  • Developers may not reuse or repurpose Roblox Immersive Ad content.
  • Ads may not be personalized for users under the age of 18.

Any Ad Integration that does not comply with the new process and policy may be subject to removal of the content, suspension of the game, or suspension of the associated accounts, among other penalties.

To register your Ad Integration campaign in accordance with the new policy, please see Creator guidance here

Fraud

Roblox takes fraud on the platform and in the virtual economy seriously, and the misuse of payment systems or Robux may result in moderation, including:

  • Using a stolen or false payment method to pay for Robux, virtual content, or other Roblox services.
  • Failing to pay invoices for Roblox resources consumed by your content or engagement with your content.
  • Abusing refund or chargeback requests to unfairly acquire Robux, virtual content, or other Roblox services without paying in full.
  • Using third-party services to buy, sell, trade, or give away Robux. This does not apply to Roblox gift cards.
  • Engaging in off-platform, secondary market transactions for account access or virtual content from games or Marketplace. This does not apply to account holders selling or transferring the rights to the account’s creations as part of a verifiable agreement.
  • Using the group payout system in a fraudulent or misleading manner, including:
    • To distribute funds for anything other than compensation for collaborative content development
    • To evade financial penalties on your account for violations of our policies or Terms.
  • Circumventing Roblox payment systems or fees, including by providing users indirect benefits for purchasing content or packages in other Roblox properties or systems.
  • Offering virtual content or functionality in exchange for Robux or other payment, and removing functionality for buyers without proper notice.

Promotional Offers

Developers may not independently use off-platform services or products to sell on-platform items (including exclusive features or other in-game enhancements) for money or Robux, either directly or as a bundle with another transaction or exchange. All off-platform commercial promotions bundled with on-platform rewards must be created in contractual agreement with Roblox. Find more details on acceptable promo codes here. To inquire about entering into a contractual agreement with Roblox, submit a form here.

Commerce

Developers leveraging our Commerce program and features must comply with the Commerce Standards.

Eligible developers may link to authorized Shopify stores in order to sell physical products within their game(s). Certain developers may also be eligible to bundle a digital reward with a user's purchase of their physical products. To learn more about offering physical products for sale within your game, please see here.

Soliciting Donations

We also do not allow our community to solicit donations for a charitable cause on Roblox, including:

  • In-game prompts for users to donate Robux toward a crowdfunding campaign
  • Claiming that a transaction is associated with a fundraiser
  • Stating to users that some amount of sales proceeds will be directed toward a cause

Note: Developers may implement in-game Robux transactions for users to express appreciation of the game or generously reward a creator (e.g. a “tip jar” feature) as long as it is clear to the user that they receive nothing in return for their payment.

Paid Item Trading

Some games let players buy items with Robux or in-game currencies that cost Robux, and they also let players trade those items in-game. However, some users are ineligible to trade paid items based on their local laws.

If paid item trading is available in a game, creators must use the IsPaidItemTradingAllowed attribute of PolicyService to ensure paid item trading is only accessible by eligible users.

Paid Random Items

Types of Paid Random Items

Paid random items are purchases made directly with Robux (or indirectly via in-game currencies acquired with Robux) that give the buyer a random outcome with odds defined by the developer. Examples of these include purchases of:

  • Capsule Type Items that result in one of multiple random outcomes
  • Enhancement Type Items that apply a random effect to an existing item
  • Combination Type Items that can be consumed or exchanged in combination with other items to access random outcomes
  • Probability Modifier Items that change the odds of random outcomes

More details on these item types and their variations can be found in Creator Hub.

Note: Bundling several items including a random item into a single paid “pack” or single transaction would still make the entire bundle a paid random item.

Odds Disclosures

The odds of receiving each possible outcome within the set of possibilities must be accurately and numerically disclosed to the eligible user before the moment of purchase.

Paid items that impact the odds of random outcomes should be clearly explained before the moment of purchase.

All possible outcomes for a paid random item must provide some benefit to the user; there cannot be a possible outcome which results in the user simply losing their payment.

Ineligible Users

Some Roblox users are ineligible to acquire paid random items. Creators offering paid random items in their game must use the ArePaidRandomItemsRestricted attribute of PolicyService API to ensure these purchases are only accessible to eligible users. For best practices on alternative paths for ineligible users, review CreatorHub.

Peer Trading

If paid random items are available in your game, users who are eligible to acquire them may still be ineligible to trade them in-game. Creators offering trading mechanisms for these paid random items in their game must use the IsPaidItemTradingAllowed attribute of PolicyService API to ensure these purchases are only tradeable for eligible users.

Contests & Sweepstakes

We appreciate a competitive game with a coveted prize, but certain types of contests are highly regulated, and therefore not permitted for users to promote on the platform without Roblox’s direct involvement.

Users may not independently use Roblox content or systems to promote contests, games of chance, or player competitions where Robux or anything of real money value is offered as a prize.

Security

For our community to thrive, everyone must feel digitally safe as well as physically safe. This section describes how players and creators should treat others’ information and protect their own and others’ digital security.

For information about how Roblox handles your personal information, please visit the Privacy Policy. For more information on how to keep your account secure - including how to enable additional security features such as two-step verification - visit our help page here. For more information for third party app developers and third party usage – visit our creator third party app policy here.

DevForum, Talent Hub, Partnered content on Moments and some approved Advertising content delivered through Roblox's advertising systems are treated separately and may have other links to external websites and services approved for use that are not permissible elsewhere on Roblox.

Roblox maintains many systems to keep our users safe and secure, and we prohibit attempts to bypass these systems, gain unauthorized access to Roblox or to others’ Roblox accounts or information, or to otherwise violate our platform security requirements, including by:

  • Attempting to circumvent our safety systems, including by hiding violative elements of assets or creating in-game functionality for users to evade safeguards.
  • Creating or using an account to avoid enforcement action taken against another account
  • Using VPNs to mask your location in order to gain unauthorized access to Roblox, including to a specific feature or account
  • Any unauthorized attempts to access another person’s account or remove their account security features

  • Failing to use required PolicyService APIs and TextChatService APIs to declare features in your game that are covered by Roblox policy, such as text chat
  • Third party applications and/or services conducting kicks and bans within a game without utilizing Roblox provided Kick and Ban API

Disruptive Content and Behavior

  • Using bots or other automation that is programmed to run disruptive tasks
  • Uploading content that contains obfuscated code or hidden scripts that mislead end users or create disruptive games for them
  • Falsely reporting other users or games or encouraging others to do so
  • Invading or flooding games or groups in an effort to disrupt the game or its reputation

For more information about creating bundles that comply with these policies, including requirements for clothing and accessories, please review the guidelines here.
