Rules of play

It’s against the rules to show realistic violence, such as gory details of injuries. Showing people, animals, or even fantasy creatures being treated very badly is also not okay. 

Why does this matter? Our community includes young kids, and seeing extreme violence can be scary and upsetting for them.

It’s against the rules to cheat, lie, or share ways to do that on Roblox. For example:

• Pretending to be someone you’re not
• Reporting users for things that didn’t happen
• Lying to trick people into buying something
• Trying to get into other people’s accounts
• Creating a new Roblox account to keep playing if your account gets locked for breaking the rules

Why does this matter? Roblox stays fun for everyone when we all play honestly, so that no one has an unfair advantage.

It’s never okay to spam and keep sending the same message over and over again.

Why does this matter? Spamming makes it hard to read what people are saying and disrupts the fun.

It’s never acceptable to create content, chat, or joke about dangerous or harmful things, such as:

• Ways to hurt yourself or others
• Dangerous physical challenges including online trends in the real world
• Things that are illegal or dangerous such as alcohol and drugs
• Gambling, betting, or games of luck with prizes that are worth money
• Instructions for making weapons in the real world

Why does this matter? Sharing content about hurting yourself or others isn’t safe. If you're having a tough time, it's important to talk to an adult who you trust. Things like sharing dangerous stunts can encourage others to try them and get seriously hurt. By not sharing this stuff, you're helping to keep yourself and everyone on Roblox safe.

If anyone makes you feel pressured or uncomfortable, they may be trying to trick you into doing something unsafe. It’s never okay for anyone, even if they seem nice, to do or joke about these suspicious things: 

• Ask you to keep secrets from your parents
• Send, ask for, or talk about nude pictures or private parts
• Ask to meet in person
• Suggest talking on another app
• Share ideas, symbols, or pictures that represent people or groups who support scaring and hurting innocent people
• Threaten, scare, or try to convince you into doing something you don't want to do

Why does this matter? These are signs that someone may be trying to get you to do something unsafe. By asking you to keep secrets or do things with them outside of the safety protections in Roblox, they might be trying to hide what they want to do so that they don’t get caught.

If anyone breaks these rules, stop talking to them right away, report them on Roblox, and tell an adult you trust like a parent or teacher.

To help keep everyone and their accounts safe, it’s against the rules to ask for or share private information, such as:

• Full names, addresses, phone numbers, emails
• Usernames on other accounts
• Passwords

Why does this matter? If a stranger figures out who you are in real life, they can try to contact you outside of Roblox. This can be dangerous because it’s hard to know online if someone is good or bad. That’s why we also never share passwords. Someone can steal your account and everything you’ve earned.

It’s against the rules to share links in chat to other websites or tell people how to find your profile on other apps or social media. If someone tells you to go to another website, you shouldn’t do it. Keep your conversations and gameplay on Roblox.

It’s also not okay to buy, sell, or trade Robux or Roblox items outside of Roblox. 

Why does this matter?

Roblox has safety protections to try to keep chats and interactions safe. Links can take you to fake websites that look just like Roblox to steal your account and items. The sites could also have pictures or videos that are inappropriate. If you trade Robux or items outside of Roblox, people can lie and not give you what they promised.
