How to Avoid Identity Fraud, Scams, and More
How we’re reducing frauds and scams on Roblox. Plus, learn how to spot bad actors, identify fake offers, and more.
We’re Monitoring for Bad Behavior
We're constantly on the lookout for violations to our Community Standards, Terms of Use, and any other fraudulent behavior.
Payment frauds
We have models running to help us evaluate transaction risks. These models are triggered by abnormalities such as sudden, large purchases. Unusual transactions may be flagged and blocked by our systems. But no system is perfect, so it's a good idea to learn how to protect yourself and your account from scams. See our tips below.
Reducing Account Takeovers
Our 2-Step Verification and passkeys help avoid the likelihood of an Account Takeover. We’ve also added challenges if a user is trying to age down or remove 2-Step Verification.
If you haven’t yet, add 2-Step Verification by going to Settings > Security and then choosing the type of verification you’d like to use.
Or set up a Passkey (fingerprint or face ID) by going to Account Settings > Account info > Login Methods > Add Passkey.
Red flags: how to spot scams fast
The majority of interactions on Roblox are positive. However, as with any online platform, there are some bad actors and behavior. If you see any of the below, identify them as a red flag. Disengage and report.
Any offer of free Robux
There are no sanctioned offerings of free Robux. If a website or user is promising this, it may be a way to get your personal information. Avoid and report. This also applies to offers of free Premium memberships, tricks, codes, or valuable items.
Admins with no badge
If someone tells you they're Roblox staff or admin, but does not have the Roblox Admin badge in their badge list, report them immediately.
Requesting your password
We'll never ask for your password outside of the Roblox login page. Never enter your information into other pages, especially those that are requesting it for a giveaway.
Avoid requests for unofficial trades or sales
Premium members have the ability to trade and sell officially through your Account Settings. If you decide to make an unofficial deal outside of the Trade or Sell features, we can’t help you recover items or receive compensation if the other user backs out.
